In December 2013, concerned family members contacted the Lexington Police Department after 32-year-old Alex Johnson, living in Lexington Kentucky, had not been heard from in the days leading up to the Christmas holidays.
For Alex, this was very unusual, and the family’s attempts to reach him were unsuccessful.
This 4-part mini-series on The Murder Police Podcast interviews lead homicide investigator Rob Wilson and the on-call homicide investigator Chris “Schoon” Schoonover about the case. The two were assigned and paired to the investigation.
The episodes will take the listener through the chronology of the case, that opened as a Missing Person and ended as Murder. As with all the cases on this podcast, we bring more than the story; you will hear the strategies used by the investigators and more importantly, the emotional impact on those that investigated the case: The Murder Police.
Listen as Rob and Chris describe how modern technology comes into play, proving locations of people and contradicting their lies. This case also includes a true “run for the border”.
Just like pairing wine to a good meal, podcasts pair as well. We recommend that our listeners download and listen to Kristin Pflum’s “Taking Alex”. This is an excellent 8-part podcast that reaches out to family members and exposes incredible secrets after the suspects were convicted, including a governor that was prepared to pardon the primary suspect.
