The Police Polygraph with Detective Eddie Pearson | Part 2 of 2 | March 19, 2024

Upon completion of high school in 1982, Eddie made the decision to enlist in the United
States Navy. Following four years of service in the Navy, he made the transition to the
United States Marine Corps, where he continued to serve his country. During his time in the
Marines, Eddie’s exceptional skills and capabilities led to his selection for embassy duty. He

had the privilege of serving at the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, as well as in Bra-
sília, Brazil, where he represented his country with honor and professionalism. After his

honorable discharge from the Marines in April 1991, Eddie’s expertise did not go unnoticed.
He was recruited by the U.S. Government as a contract employee and was stationed in
Croughton, England, for a period of almost four years, where he continued to contribute his

talents to the service of his nation. Upon returning to the United States in 1994, Eddie em-
barked on a new chapter in his career. He accepted a position with a company in Louisville,

Kentucky, where he took on the role of a production supervisor, utilizing his leadership
skills and military experience to excel in his new role.

Eddie joined the Lexington Police Department in 1995 and began his career in the Division of
Patrol after successfully completing the police academy. He dedicated several years to serving on
patrol before being reassigned to the traffic unit, where he took on the roles of a traffic officer and
motorcycle officer. Following his commendable performance in the traffic section, Eddie’s skills
and expertise led him to the Bureau of Special Investigations, where he served as an undercover
vice detective. Recognizing his exceptional abilities, the department assigned Eddie to the FBI’s
Criminal Enterprise and Organized Crime Task Force as a task force officer, further enhancing his
contributions to law enforcement.

Eddie’s dedication to both his military and law enforcement careers is evident throughout
his professional journey. While working at the Lexington Police Department, he made the
decision to join the United States Naval Reserves in 1996, allowing him to continue his
military service alongside his police duties. The events of September 11th, 2001, had a
profound impact on Eddie’s life as he was immediately called back to active duty and
stationed at the U.S. Naval Station in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Serving there for a year, he
fulfilled his duties with utmost dedication and professionalism. Once his assignment was

completed, Eddie returned to his role at the Lexington Police Department, where he had
already established himself as a valuable member of the force. It was in 2005 that Eddie
proudly retired from the United States Navy (Reserves) after more than two decades of
honorable military service.

Eddie was chosen by the Lexington Police Department in 2012 to participate in the American
International Institute of Polygraph in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon finishing the fundamental polygraph
training, he had to go through a year-long polygraph internship with the Kentucky State Police in

Frankfort, Kentucky. Once he completed his internship, he went back to the Lexington Police De-
partment as a certified polygraph examiner. In October 2015, Eddie decided to retire from the Lex-
ington Police Department after dedicating more than 20 years to his service.

After retiring from the police department, Eddie seamlessly transitioned into a civilian role at
the Lexington Police Department, where he now serves as the senior polygraph examiner. With a
wealth of experience in administering polygraph exams, Eddie has successfully conducted over
3,000 tests throughout his career. Eddie’s expertise in polygraph examinations encompasses a wide

range of areas, including pre-employment screenings, criminal-specific tests, and ICAC-related ex-
aminations.

Committed to continuous improvement, Eddie actively participates in training sessions offered
by esteemed organizations such as the American Polygraph Association, the American Association

of Police Polygraphists, the Kentucky Polygraph Association, the Congruence Group, and most re-
cently, the John Reid Investigative Interviewing and Advanced Interrogation Course. This dedica-
tion to professional development ensures that Eddie remains at the forefront of advancements in

polygraph examination techniques and practices.
In May of 2022, Eddie’s son, Regis, successfully completed his PhD at the University of
Georgia and is currently serving as a Captain in the United States Army. Eddie and his wife,
Leslie, have been happily married for more than 23 years.
